Below are my Illustrator Tutorial Images
Final Graphic Design Project

For my graphic design project, I decided to make a photo collage of pictures I took at Sziget music festival in Budapest, Hungary. This relates to my topic because it’s a live music event with lots of other festivities going on. I went to Sziget on August 8th, 2018 and was able to see one of my favorite artists ever, Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick is seen in the bottom middle, and top right images. Some designs that inspired me were image collages I’ve seen before that conveyed events well. Many people have photo albums or scrapbooks to show they’re adventure’s so I got some of my inspiration from that.
Initially for my rough draft, I had focused mainly on adjusting my pictures positioning to fit well together. I didn’t put a lot of thought into implementing other images that weren’t my own or using text to make my design better. After reading what some of my peers had to say about my design, I agreed with their criticism and I added new aspects to my overall design. I made an all black background that I had peaking at the top of my images. On this background I added a caption of what my design was focusing on by adding the name of the festival and location. I also used images I got from the internet (Links at the bottom of the page) that fit perfectly with the theme of my design. I placed them on both sides of my caption. One is art of Kendrick Lamar and the other are music notes. They also fit my color scheme well. It was pointed out in my rough draft that the colors/lighting in my images didn’t match perfectly with each other. I played around with the coloring and brightness to make them flow better with each other. I kept the bordering around each picture because I thought that helped the pictures stand out. Some effects I used included the stroke ability on each image which allowed for me to create the black and white gradient border to each image. I changed the angles of each gradient so the black and white colors were hitting in different directions to make the images stand out as well. I used the crop tool heavily to adjust what I wanted my photo’s dimensions to be in order to fit perfectly with the other images. The crop tool worked out well as my images ended up aliening perfectly with each other. Along with the crop tool, I used the free transform ability to adjust the size of my images as well.
I ran into some problems with changing only one image without affecting the others. However, after doing some research and going through trial and error, I was able to focus on one image at a time. Most of the images used in the collage were taken either by me or on my phone by a friend of mine. I used two images I took from the internet. My intention for the collage is to show people what live concerts look like and how beautiful some of the venues are. I’d also like to emphasize there’s lots to do at festivals such as bouncy houses, site seeing, eating food, etc. Not just listening to music. Every event will vary on what they offer and I’d like to focus on Sziget for this project.
The criticism and comments from my peers really helped me out. If I didn’t take them seriously I think my final project wouldn’t have turned out the way I wanted it to. I especially took the comments of adding text to my design seriously. The text at the top helps people understand what my design’s about without having to read the description. Cleared up any confusion someone would have. I added text to one of the photo’s of Kendrick Lamar as well to point out who he was. I believe this helps people who may not know who he is or may not know based off just a zoomed out picture.

Some effects I used included the stroke ability on each image which allowed for me to create the black and white gradient border to each image. I thought this was a cool way to let each image stand out as its own while still looking in unison with every other image. I changed the angles of each gradient so the black and white colors were hitting in different directions to make the images stand out as well. For the bottom middle Kendrick Lamar picture, I edited the colors and put an inner glow effect.

Introduction Blog
I love music. I love Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul, Rap, Pop, Electronic, etc. I love all kinds of music and I love it even more when I’m seeing it live. Going to concerts and festivals is one of, if not my favorite thing to do, which is why I am so passionate about this blog.
I have been to many concerts and festivals so far in my life, seeing my favorite artists in different genres, from Logic (rap) to Bryson Tiller (R&B) to Illenium (EDM/Dance). One reason I decided to create this blog page is because I have documented many of the events I’ve been to, whether it be pictures or videos, thus I have lot’s of material from my personal experience I would like to share with others.
Some of the festivals I’ve been to include Bumbershoot in Seattle, Washington (https://www.bumbershoot.com/) Coachella in Indio, California (http://splash.coachella.com/) Sziget in Budapest (https://szigetfestival.com/en/) Hungary. Some of the venues I’ve been to for individual concerts include Wamu theatre, Showbox Sodo, Showbox Market Place, Key Arena, all located in Seattle, Washington, and more venues in other places. My goal is to branch out and hit as many different events as I can, of course fitting into my finance as well. Some future festivals I hope to attend in my near future are Lollapalooza in Chicago, Illinois (https://www.lollapalooza.com/), EDC in Las Vegas, Nevada (https://lasvegas.electricdaisycarnival.com/) and many more.
A couple ideas I have for future projects include creating a logo that fits perfectly with the theme of my site by including a music design and some sort of outdoor live feature in it. Another idea I have for the video project is making a collaboration of multiple videos I took myself and creating one big video that demonstrates the activities and festivities of going to live music concerts.
Overall, I plan to create a positive and fun image of going to such events and to show the experience through my eyes with videos and images I have captured.
